Excelsior Toastmasters: Closing after Celebrating 46 Years of Excellence
On May 20, 2025, eight dedicated remaining members of Excelsior Toastmasters Club #699, along with District 5 Immediate Past Director and member of Excelsior, Sujata Yellapeddi, DTM, and current District 5 Director, Alex Shadpour DTM, gathered to celebrate and reflect on the Club’s remarkable 46-year journey as an Advanced Toastmasters Club.
The meeting was filled with heartfelt memories, laughter, and stories of growth, mentorship, and shared achievements. Members shared their personal experiences—highlighting award-winning speeches, support from fellow Toastmasters, and the many leaders who emerged from our Club, including several District 5 Officers and even International Officer leaders.
Despite our proud legacy, the Club has experienced a steady decline in new members and in volunteers stepping up to serve in officer roles. After thoughtful discussion, members voted to cease future meetings and to stop accepting new enrollments.
This was not a farewell, but a launch pad. Members were encouraged to continue pursuing their communication and leadership goals in other clubs—or wherever their journeys may lead.
It was an emotional yet positive evening that honored Excelsior’s past and opened doors to new beginnings. We thank all who were a part of this incredible legacy.
